Course Description: With advances in medical technology, pharmacy technicians are taking a vital role in patient care. The Pharmacy Technician course is designed to learn how natural and synthetic chemical agents such as drugs affect biological systems, how and why they are dispensed and the skills need for public service. It is an ever-changing, growing body of information that continually demands greater amounts of time and education from health care workers.
Course Goals: Students will demonstrates professional standards/employability skills as required by business and industry and are expected to express ideas in a clear, concise, and effective manner; exhibit the ability to cooperate, contribute, and collaborate as a member of a team. They will also gain the knowledge of the properties of therapeutic agents as vital in providing quality health care. Students will recognize a variety of skills including keyboarding, computer applications, pharmacy operations and procedures, basic pharmacology skills, laws, regulations and national exam certification requirements. Students will gain the skills you need to assist pharmacists and improve patient care.

Students shall be awarded two credits for successful completion of this course. At age 18 and graduation from high school, students are eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam.
